If you are fortunate enough to ever go to New Zealand, you will have to pinch yourself from time to time to remind yourself that you are, infact, on exactly the other side of the world.

For these 3 islands, North Island, South Island and Stewart Island are just like home. But then again, where in the British Isles would you be able to drive without stopping at a traffic light, or even seeing another car? Or get a table straight away at a beauty spot restaurant without having to queue, or park comfortably in town?

The South Island is home to magnificent snow clad mountain ranges, large sheep-festooned green plains and clear mirror lakes. The litter free small towns and pollution free countryside is reminiscent of a by-gone age. You can journey in splendour from Christchurch, it's capital, to Greymouth, on the Tasmin Sea by steam train via Arthur's Pass high in the mountains and view breathtaking scenery. Or walk the Franz Joseph glacier to touch the ice, or bungee jump from a bridge above Queenstown or travel by cable car to a restaurant overlooking the city. Spend a day visiting the dark splendour of Milton Sound. The possibilities are endless.

On the North Island you can marvel at the sulphur hot springs bubbling perpetually, or see Old Faithful, the boiling geyser, so called because of its prompt appearance every 15 minutes. Spend an evening with the Maoris who will cook you a pig whole in the hot earth according to tradition, or see a sheep shearing competition or spend a day sailing in Auckland Harbour, known as 'The City of Sails'.
