Once belonging to Britain, this quieter neighbour of the famous Majorca offers the family an "all-round" holiday. On either side of the main road, running between Mahon and Cuidadela and built by the British in the 18th century, are little whitewashed farms surrounded by whitewashed stone walls and green fields, except in August, when the Mediterranean sun has bleached the earth dry. You could be mistaken for taking all this for Cornwall but the weather reminds you that you are abroad!

From May until October the island basks in sunshine but it never becomes too hot as there is always a gentle breeze allowing the holidaymaker to enjoy sightseeing the ancient neolithic sights or the sandy beaches and coves, or exploring the small, narrow streets of the islands towns or spending the day at the waterpark.

VILLA TOTIGA is a privately owned front line apartment on the well known, prestigious FORNELLS COUNTRY CLUB. This two bedroomed property has all windows facing the bay of Cala Tirant, the waters edge being some 50 yards away. It is a delight to sit on the patio and watch the swimmers, boats and windsurfers out in the bay. In the evening, sit and watch the sunset over the water whilst sipping the locally produced gin. There is a well equipped kitchen but there are also 4 restaurants on the site ranging from cheap and cheerful snacks and tapas to a de-luxe eatery. The village of Fornells is a mile and a half away and there you will find the delightful restaurant of Es Pla - a firm favourite of the King of Spain.
